Folder History

At Bursley, we teach History to:

  • Fire pupils' curiosity about the past in Britain and the wider world.
  • Encourage thinking about how the past influences the present.
  • Foster a sense of identity and an increased understanding of pupils' own position in their own community and the world.
  • Encourage children to ask questions, think critically, weigh evidence, identify arguments, and develop perspective and judgement.
  • Identify changes in society and groups and how those changes have occurred.
  • Allow children to develop an understanding of chronology and knowledge of significant events and people.
