Our Curriculum

At Bursley Academy, we believe that every child deserves a curriculum that inspires curiosity, nurtures ambition and equips them with the knowledge, skills and character to flourish. Our curriculum has been carefully planned across every subject to ensure clear progression of crucial knowledge, skills and understanding, from the Early Years Foundation Stage through to Year 6, enabling children to build securely on prior learning as they grow. It is designed to develop knowledgeable, confident and compassionate learners who are ready for the next stage of their education and for life beyond the classroom. Reading sits at the very heart of everything we do because we know that a love of reading opens the door to lifelong learning and success. Carefully chosen texts are used to spark interest and ignite learning throughout the curriculum.

By revisiting and building upon prior knowledge, children deepen their understanding, make connections across the curriculum and develop genuine enthusiasm for learning.
